Winter

I had for my winter evening walk–
No one at all with whom to talk,
But I had the cottages in a row
Up to their shining eyes in snow.

And I thought I had the folk within:
    I had the sound of a violin;
I had a glimpse through curtain laces
Of youthful forms and youthful faces.

I had such company outward bound.
I went till there were no cottages found.
I turned and repented, but coming back
I saw no window but that was black.

Over the snow my creaking feet
    Disturbed the slumbering village street
    Like profanation, by your leave,
At ten o-clock of a winter eve.

Quote

"What I like in a good author is not what he says, but what he whispers". - Logan Pearsall Smith

- A good author does not always get right to the point and explain what they are trying to say. A good author could hide the meanings and say them in subtle ways. The little things that author's do in their writings it what stands out the most. The details and underlined message is the style they are portraying their writings.

Short Story

What is your favorite short story?

- I do not have a particular short story that has stuck to my mind. In general I am a big Edgar Allen Poe fan. I like to read most of his short stories because they keep me glued to the pages. Edgar Allen Poe is a unique writer that I enjoy to read during my free time. I suggest his short stories and novels to anybody who wants to have a good read!

Sarah's Education

Do you think young people today value their education as much as Sara Smolinsky does? Why or Why not?

I do think there are some students who do take learning and their education as serious as Sara does. I also do know that students slip with their schoolwork and do not fully participate in school. There are students who exceed Sara's love for education and there are students who are far behind of Sara's love for education.

Quote

"There's nothing hard about writing. All you have to do is sit down and open up a vein." - Walter "Red" Smith

- My response to this quotes is that the quote is very true. There really is no hard part about reading, it's what you make of it. If you sit down and feel the urge to read and want to enjoy the book, you will. If you tell yourself that the book will be boring and unenjoyable, the book will not be pleasurable.

Love or Hate?

Through chapter 6, Fania feels betrayed by her Father. Her Father read the letter written on wrapping paper that was written by Morris Lipkin. Morris displays his love for her through the letter and explains how poor and desperate he is to be united with her. Fania's Father is furious with this letter and tells Fania that this man cannot support her in any means and will never be a dependent person to be in love with. Fania's love for Morris is seen when she defends Morris and his character. This is a scene where Fania is torn between loving and hating her Father.
